to embrace the essence of China - its civilisation, natural
beauty and hospitality.
Whilst in Beijing, excursions include the awe-inspiring Great
Wall, an unrivaled accomplishment for mankind and the majestic
Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world.
Xi'an offers you the marvelous and astonishing Terracotta Warriors
unearthed in 1979 after being interred for 2,000 years. They
give an insight into the fascinating ancient Chinese history
and civilisation and are described by travellers as "a
moving experience". Xi'an allows you to touch and feel
the very heart of Ancient China.
Guilin shows you yet another face of China. A small city with
everything in easy reach, it is endowed with natural beauty
acknowledged by all Chinese as "The best under the sky"!
Cruise down the Li River and you won't dispute it.
At the end of the tour, you will go to Shanghai. Located in
the middle of China's coast, Shanghai has witnessed a series
of important events in modern Chinese history. As a consequence,
it boasts many sites and cultural relics as well as the largest
commercial entrepot. Packed full with shops, modern department
stores and fashionable boutiques, Shanghai has it all.
Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Beijing
Arrive in Beijing. Meet and assistance at the airport and then
transferred to the hotel. Check in at the hotel . Relax for
the rest of the day.
Day 2: Beijing
Today you will go for an excursion to see the Great Wall
and Ming Tombs. Undulating far off into the distance, see the
magnificent Great Wall, the only manmade object visible from
the moon, wind its way along ridges of the Northern Hills. Visit
the Ming Tombs, designed and selected by Emperors during their
reign. Accessible only by "The Sacred Way" a road
branching off the route to the Great Wall which was forbidden
to all but the Emperors' funeral cortege. Evening is free at
Leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Beijing
Today you will visit the Imperial Palace, the Temple of
Heaven, the Summer Palace and Tian An Men Square. See this abiding
symbol of traditional China and walk through the Imperial Palace,
also known as the Forbidden City, right in the heart of Beijing.
Steeped in historic majesty, stroll in the Summer Palace which
lies northwest of the world's largest public square, Tian An
Men Square. Nearby is the Temple of Heaven, a masterpiece of
15th century architecture where every year, on the eve of the
Winter solstice, the Emperor would perform sacrificial rituals
in the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. Evening is free at
Leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4: Beijing/Xi'an
Depart Beijing by air to Xi'an, the ancient capital of
China under 11 dynasties, and the starting point of the renowned
Silk Road. On arrival, meet and transfer to the Hotel. Rest
of the day is free at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 5: Xi'an
A day excursion to tomb of Qin Shi Huang, where eight
thousand of life-size terra cotta warriors and horses were
unearthed in 1979, this sight is certain to take your breath
away. Also visit the Hua Qing Hot Springs, a favourite resort
of Emperors and the famous Wild Goose Pogoda. Evening is free
at Leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 6: Xi'an/Guilin
Leave Xi'an by air for Guilin, a city of unique beauty
in China. On arrival meet and transfer to the Hotel. Rest
of the day is free at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7: Guilin
Enjoy a relaxing cruise with lunch on the Li River, amidst
the natural beauty of mist shrouded crags and bamboo groves
which inspired painters and poets alike over the centuries.
Lunch is served on the cruiser
Enjoy your free time in Yangshuo to explore the local shops
and markets. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 8: Guilin/Shanghai
Take a morning flight to Shanghai. Meet and assistance
on arrival. Transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day is free
at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day09- Shanghai
Today visit the world class Museum of Art and History.
Also visit the famous Jade Buddha Temple and Yuyuan Garden.
There is a chance to stroll on the lively Bund and busy shopping
area of Nanjing Road. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 10: End of Tour
Transfer for flight back to London by Virgin Atlantic
or British Airways. Arrive at London Heathrow the same afternoon.
