Special Attractions
Cambodia is a mysterious place, its history - like dapple sunlight
falling through foliage onto an ancient stone temple - a mixture
of darkness and light. This quiet, pastoral beauty is the backdrop
for one of the most astonishing archeological sites on earth.
Built between the ninth and thirteenth centuries by Khmer kings
who were considered living gods, the temples of Angkor were
abandoned in the fifteenth century. Reclaimed by the jungle,
Angkor was dismissed by outsiders as a myth. Today the 'lost
city' has lost none of its mystery or magic. Climb through the
carved stone passageways explored by the French adventurer Mahout
in 1860 and you will feel a sense of awe at the artistry and
extravagance of this long-gone civilization.
Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Phnom Penh
Arrive in Phnom Penh and transfer to the Hotel. This city was
once considered one of the most beautiful in the Orient, and
despite its recent turbulent history it still retains a colonial
charm. Afternoon is free at leisure.
Day 2: Phnom Penh
This morning we will go for the Half day tour of Royal Phnom
Penh. Your local guide and transport will collect you from your
hotel for this half day tour of royal Phnom Penh. The tour commences
with a visit to the Royal Palace (still used by Cambodian royals)
and Silver Pagoda, whose flooring is made up of silver tiles.
Continue to the National Museum, a pleasant building in Khmer
traditional style, which houses many sculptures from the glorious
Angkor empire. City orientation includes views of Wat Phnom,
raised on the only hill in town, and the meeting point of the
Mekong, Bassac and Tonle Sap rivers. There should be time for
a visit to the Psar Thmei, the distinctive Art Deco central
market building before returning to your hotel. Rest of the
day is free at leisure.
Day 3: Phnom Penh -Siem Reap
Fly to Siem Reap, transfer to the hotel. Evening is free to
explore the mysterious Royal city Angkor Thom. Overnight stay
at the hotel.
Day 4: Siem Reap
After breakfast at hotel, you will go for the Full day of exploration
in the magnificent Angkor complex. Your local guide will be
ready to meet you in the hotel lobby to begin this full day
tour of the Angkor complex. The tour will include a visit of
Angkor Thom, royal capital of prolific builder Jayavarman VII,
dating from the late twelfth century. Most striking of the monuments
is the Bayon, a mountain of face-towers, said to be the likeness
of the king himself, viewing his realm in all directions. Outside
of Angkor Thom, view the remains of Ta Prohm which has been
left as it was rediscovered, entwined by strangler-figs. Lunch
is taken at a local restaurant. In the afternoon visit the awe-inspiring
Angkor Wat, state-temple of Suriyavarman II, from the early
12th century and the largest religious monument on earth. A
late afternoon view may be taken from the Phnom Bakeng.
Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day05- End of Tour
In the morning you will drive back to Amman Airport to Board
your flight to your home destination.
